Some fighters are wired differently, and this Saturday at UFC Tampa, one of those fighters will be making the walk to the octagon. The fan-favorite, Niko “The Hybrid” Price (13-3-0) will be the “co-co main event” as he likes to call it (3rd to last fight) against James “The Texecutioner” Vick. Price will be welcoming Vick to the division after “The Texecutioner” lost three straight at lightweight.
Price has a 5-3-1 record in the UFC and has split his last 4 fights. In the two victories, he received performance of the night and in his most recent fight at UFC 240 he lost but should’ve been awarded Fight of The Night against Geoff Neal.

Price’s fighting style has made him a fan-favorite (which is a given cause his style of fighting is ruthless). The judges have to low-key love his style because he’s yet to force their hand at deciding a fight. None of Price’s fights in the UFC have gone the distance or needed the judges’ scorecard.

Although he does have three submission wins (2 in the UFC), since entering the UFC, he’s taken the “kill or be killed” mentality in his fights (either handing a TKO/KO or receiving one). That mentality was never more evident than in his last victory against Tim Means. He KO’d Means in a slugfest and did-so in such devastating fashion that Means’ leg/ankle snapped on his way down from being KO’d.
Niko’s fighting style may not be deemed appropriate for the youth to see – at the least, his fighting style should come with a “viewer discretion is advised” warning. However, it’s that style that in the words of Jorge Masvidal is “super necessary” when trying to get others involved in watching the sport and increase an individual’s fan-base.
When he enters the Octagon against James Vick, Niko won’t be looking to leave it in the hands of the judges. He’ll do what he has always done and lay it all out on the line. To those in the arena at UFC Tampa and the hundreds of thousands watching around the world, be sure to tune in because a fight card involving “The Hybrid” is worth more than just the “Price” of admission.
